The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a regular meeting September 11th, 2019 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.

Mr. Diorio leads the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Ungaro asks everyone to take a moment of silence for the 911 victims.

Mr. Scharville does roll call. Ungaro, Kempers and Wollet are present.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve minutes dated August 14th, 2019 Special Meeting and August 14th, 2019 Regular Meeting. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes-Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

RECOGNITION GUEST:

John Rosensteel 3057 Spitler Road is present to discuss the water issues by his property.

Ron Sharpe from ODOT is present with ODOT engineer Bob Rosen. They are proposing work on 616 and Beachwood with draining issues, including 6 catch basins.

PARK COMMITTEE:

Mr. Filicky is present to give report.

ZONING DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Bob Monus is present to give monthly report.

  • 1 new structure valued at $170,575; fees- $1,202; 18 additional improvements valued at $95,489; fees of $751.00.
  • 10 misc. permit-$50; 2 appeals valued at $550, 1 amendments, 61 violations; total valuation- $266,064 total fees-$2,553, year to date- $4,293,399.

ROAD DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Tom Monus is present to give monthly report.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Chief Goodin is present to give monthly report.

 Mr. Ungaro motions to accept letter of resignation from Ptl. Scott Weiland

(effective 09-03-2019). Seconded by Mrs. Wollet.  Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to accept letter of resignation from Ptl. Jacob Lape (effective 9-16-2019) Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to accept new hire Daniel Superak for part time Patrol for Poland Township pending outcome of physical and background check. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Diorio gives the Board an update on the road project.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Jen Dagati 3016 Southwind Trail, is present to express her gratitude for getting the roads done.

Richard Wroblewski 7376 Elmland explains to the Board when they grazed the road by his house, he is worried about the drainage from when it rains because the road was raised and it will flood his yard.

Karen Bush 2378 Clyde Street, she explains that the sewers seem lower and is worried about flooding her property.

David Kountz 3117 Olde Winter Trail, shows his concern about the amount of traffic has increased also the speed of the vehicles dues to the roads being done.

Nick Catsoules 7708 Cliffview Drive, explains how his yard is damaged during snow plowing time, asks if there is any way of fixing it so it does not happen again this season.

Christine Crogan 7716 Cliffview Drive, explains how her driveway is affected by the snow plowing.

John Appel 7816 Cliffview Drive, talks with Board about the basketball court.

Mr. Ungaro motions to adjourn into executive session for reasons related to personnel matters at 7:09 p.m. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
