                                                                                       REGULAR MEETING

The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a regular meeting October 26, 2022 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.

Mr. Ungaro calls the meeting to order.

Mrs. Wollet leads the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Scharville does roll call. Ungaro, Kempers, and Wollet are present.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the Special Meeting minutes dated October 20, 2022. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #22-19: Rate Budget Commission. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

RECOGNITION OF GUESTS:

Terra Safe Recycling- Rep. Eric Snyder and Ted Mansfield are present to discuss the potential pickup for electronics so they will not end up in the landfill. It’s a service that they offer for free for the township, the residents, and businesses.

Mr. Tim Crowe, Rotary Club-gave the board an update on the Rotary Club and their funding, is still in hopes of the township providing some of the funding.

Mr. Ungaro motions to allocate $20,000 to Poland Rotary, not an additional $20,000 that was already allocated. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried. 

Mrs. Wollet speaks for the Western Reserve Joint Fire Department levy, if looking for additional information please go to Polandfire.org, on that site there will be a tab for the levy.

ADMININSTRATION:

Mr. Ungaro announces that Halloween hours will be on October 31, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  

Mr. Ungaro announces the approval of the drop off site for Toys for Tots will be at the Administration building.

PARK COMMITTEE:

Mr. Flicky is present to give monthly report.     

 RECYCLING:

Mr. Scharville is present to give monthly report.

ZONING DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Robert Monus is present to give monthly report.

Monthly report from September.

  • 1 new structure, valuation-$216,840; fees collected-$1,518
  • 19 additional improvements, valuation-$244,705; fees collected-$1,765
  • 4 misc. permits issued; $20.00; 3-appeal, $825-misc.; 0 -amendments, 17 violations for the month

Total valuation for the month- $461,545; total fees collected $4,128; Year to date total valuation- $6,338,816

ROAD DEPARTMENT:

Mr. Tommy Monus is present to monthly report.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Chief Wilson is present to give monthly report.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Chelsea Wolfe for part-time Poland Township police officer per union contract.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Brandan Shuler for part-time Poland Township police officer per union contract.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Dante Romano for part-time Poland Township police officer trainee at the rate of $10/hr.  Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.

Mr. Diorio is present to speak about the road projects.

ELECTED OFFICIAL COMMENTS:

Mrs. Wollet - Speaks about the levy that the township has on the ballet. Good luck to Mr. Ungaro on election day.

Mr. Kempers - Good luck to the Western Reserve Fire District. Good luck to Eric!
